Interested in getting a Master’s degree in Applied Health Informatics? Now you have an opportunity to apply for the scholarship as a part-time student. If selected, you will be funded for the two-year duration of the part-time program. The ONC grant will subsidize:
60% of tuition and fees
A $15,000 stipend
Student health insurance stipend for the duration of the program

The School of Biomedical Informatics is now an institutional member of the Sloan Consortium, which gives our faculty access and discounts to resources dedicated to quality online learning. Faculty now have access to research, effective practices, practitioner documents and survey reports as well as discounts to online faculty development workshops and face to face conferences.
The Sloan Consortium is an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education. The Sloan-C Certificate prepares educators to teach and improve online courses using Sloan-C pillars of quality in online education. The certificate consists of a 9-week foundation course and a variety of electives or learning specializations that focus on improving overall competency within a specific area of academic focus. Participants achieve a Sloan-C Certificate by completing 3 chosen electives. Specializations will be cited on the candidate’s certificate of completion.
We highly recommend our faculty members take this opportunity to register for the Sloan-C Certificate program. Registration is now open for the April session (April 27 – July 1). IEEE Healthcom 2011
The 13th IEEE International Conference on e-Health Networking, Application & Services (Healthcom2011) will be held in Columbia, Missouri, from June 13 to June 15, 2011. The main theme of HealthCom 2011 is “technology-enabled personalized medicine” to provide preventive and therapeutic care that is optimized for individual patient subpopulations. The advancement of m-Health (mobile device technologies, networking, telecommunications), e-Health (electronic health records, telemedicine, consumer health informatics), and genomics (high-throughput sequencing of the human genome), will make personalized medicine possible and affordable in the near future.
Healthcom 2011 will bring together interested parties from around the world working in the healthcare field to exchange ideas, to discuss innovative and emerging solutions, and to develop collaborations. For more information, click here.

Order Your Graduation Regalia by March 24
Congratulations to our new graduates! It is time to order your regalia. Please visit here to order your regalia. You will need to choose the appropriate graduation attire (i.e., SBMI Doctoral Set or SBMI Master’s Set) and specify your height and head measurement.
In order for your graduation regalia to come in time, you should submit your order no later than March 24, 2011. Please state on the website that you need your regalia by April 22, 2011.
